Community Guidelines

Effective Last updated

In short

  • Be someone people are glad they met. That is the whole idea; everything below is detail.
  • No harassment, hate, threats, sexual content, or using Kaif to sell things or recruit people.
  • Show up when you say you will, describe your gatherings honestly, and respect the venue.
  • Breaking these rules can mean content removal, feature limits, suspension or a permanent ban, depending on severity.
  • Every enforcement decision is reviewed by a person, and you can appeal it.

The summary is a convenience and has no legal effect. Where it and the full text differ, the full text governs.

Kaif exists to put people in the same room. That only works if the room is somewhere people want to be. These guidelines form part of the User Agreement and apply to everything you do on the Service — and to your conduct at gatherings arranged through it.

1. What we expect

  • Be honest about who you are. One account, your real first name, a photograph that is actually you.
  • Describe gatherings accurately — the place, the time, the cost, who it is for, and anything someone would want to know before deciding to come.
  • Turn up, or cancel in time for someone else to take your place.
  • Take no for an answer, the first time, in every context.
  • Respect the venue and the people working in it. A Kaif at a café is still a café.
  • Keep other people's information to yourself. What is said at a gathering stays there.

2. What is never allowed

Harm to people

  • Harassment, bullying, stalking, or repeated unwanted contact — on the Service or afterwards.
  • Threats of violence, or encouraging anyone to harm themselves or others.
  • Hate speech or dehumanising content targeting people for their ethnicity, nationality, religion, disability, gender, sexual orientation, or any other protected characteristic.
  • Sexual content, sexual advances that were not invited, and any sexualised contact involving a minor — which we report to the authorities without exception.
  • Sharing someone's private information — their address, workplace, phone number or photographs — without their permission.
  • Filming or photographing people at gatherings who have asked you not to.

Misuse of the platform

  • Impersonating another person, a business, or Kaif itself.
  • Commercial solicitation, spam, recruitment, multi-level marketing, or gatherings that are sales pitches in disguise.
  • Scams, fake gatherings, fake tickets, and requests to move payment off the platform in order to avoid protections.
  • Attempting to determine anyone's exact location from Radar, or to work around the location blurring.
  • Automated access — scraping, bots, bulk account creation, or automated messaging.
  • Evading a ban by creating a new account.

Illegal activity

Do not use Kaif to arrange anything unlawful, to sell restricted goods, or to organise on behalf of any organisation whose activity is restricted by law. We cooperate with lawful requests from authorities.

3. Additional expectations for Hosts

Hosting carries responsibility. If you host:

  • Set expectations before people arrive — what the gathering is, who it is for, what it costs, and what to bring.
  • Do not surprise attendees with a cost, a location change, or a purpose they did not agree to.
  • Use the approval controls if your gathering needs them, and remove anyone whose behaviour makes others unsafe.
  • Prefer public venues. If a gathering is at a private address, say so clearly in the description so people can decide before they join.
  • If you cancel, tell people as early as you can and refund what you took.

4. Reporting

Every profile, gathering and message has a report option. Reports go to a moderation queue staffed by our team, not to an automated filter. Tell us what happened and when; screenshots help.

Blocking is immediate and mutual — the person you block cannot see you on Radar, cannot message you, and cannot see your gatherings. Blocking someone does not report them, so do both if the behaviour warrants it.

For anything urgent, or anything you have already reported that has not been dealt with, write to safety@kaif.app. If someone is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first — we cannot dispatch help.

5. What happens when rules are broken

We weigh what happened, whether it was deliberate, whether it has happened before, and the harm caused. Responses, roughly in order:

  1. A warning, with the content removed.
  2. Temporary limits — for example, being unable to host, to message people you have not met, or to appear on Radar.
  3. Temporary suspension of the account.
  4. Permanent removal, with any associated accounts.

Some things skip straight to permanent removal: sexual content involving minors, credible threats of violence, and serious fraud. Where conduct is criminal, we report it.

A person reviews every enforcement decision. We do not ban accounts by automated decision alone.

6. Appeals

If you think we got it wrong, write to safety@kaif.app within 30 days. Tell us what you think happened. A different reviewer than the one who made the original decision will look at it, and we will reply with the outcome and the reason. We reverse decisions when we are wrong, and we would rather hear about it than not.

7. Changes

These guidelines change as the community grows and we learn what is missing. Material changes are announced in the app before they take effect.
