Cookie Policy

In short

  • This website uses a small number of cookies, and none of them are for advertising.
  • Two are strictly necessary: one remembers your language, one remembers your light or dark theme preference.
  • We do not use third-party tracking or advertising cookies, so there is no consent banner to click through.
  • The mobile app does not use cookies; it stores your login token in your device's secure storage.

The summary is a convenience and has no legal effect. Where it and the full text differ, the full text governs.

A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to store. Similar technologies — local storage, session storage — do the same job in a different place. This policy covers both, and applies to this website. The Kaif mobile applications do not use cookies.

1. What this site sets

NameTypePurposeDuration
kaif-localeCookie, strictly necessaryRemembers the language you chose, so a bare URL sends you to it instead of guessing from your browser1 year
kaif-themeLocal storage, strictly necessaryRemembers whether you chose light, dark, or follow-the-system, and applies it before the page paints so there is no flashUntil you clear it

That is the complete list. Both are set only in response to something you did — choosing a language or a theme — and neither is used to identify or track you.

2. What we do not use

  • No advertising or retargeting cookies.
  • No third-party analytics that identify individuals across sites.
  • No social-network tracking pixels. Our social links are ordinary links; they load nothing until you click them.
  • No fingerprinting or device-identification techniques.

This is why you are not being asked to accept anything. Under Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive, consent is required for storage that is not strictly necessary to provide the service you asked for. Everything we store is strictly necessary, so no consent banner is required — and we would rather have no banner than a banner.

3. Fonts and third-party requests

The typefaces on this site are downloaded at build time and served from our own domain. Your browser makes no request to a font CDN, and no third party sees your IP address as a result of visiting this site.

4. How to control cookies

You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings, and clear local storage the same way. Because our two items are strictly necessary rather than tracking, blocking them will not break the site — you will simply be asked to choose your language again and the theme will follow your operating system.

If we ever add a cookie, this table is updated before it is set, and if the new cookie is not strictly necessary we will ask for your consent first. Questions: privacy@kaif.app.
