Kaif takes about a minute to set up. This walks through each step and what each choice actually affects.
Signing up
You can create an account four ways: email address, phone number, Google, or Apple. Email and phone send you a six-digit code to confirm you own the address. Google and Apple sign you in directly.
If you use Sign in with Apple and choose to hide your email, Kaif works normally — we support the private relay address and will never ask for your real one.
Not receiving your code? Check your spam folder first. If it is not there after two minutes, request a new one — the old code stops working as soon as a new one is sent.
Your profile
Other people see your first name, your photograph, your bio and your interests. That is the whole list. Your email address, phone number and date of birth are never shown to anyone.
A photograph of your face matters more here than on most apps, because people are deciding whether to meet you in person. Hosts running approval-based gatherings are noticeably more likely to accept someone they can see.
Picking interests
Interests do two jobs. They shape which gatherings get suggested to you, and they are what the radar uses to show what you have in common with someone nearby — the chips on a profile card are computed against your own list, not theirs.
Pick five or six real ones rather than everything. A list of thirty interests matches everybody, which is the same as matching nobody.
Permissions
- Location — asked for as "while using the app" only. Kaif never requests background location. If you decline it, discovery still works: you pick your city by hand instead.
- Notifications — used for messages, join requests, and reminders before a gathering starts. You can turn each category off individually in settings.
- Camera and photos — only asked for when you first upload a photograph.
Deleting your account
Settings › Account › Delete account. It is a single action, it does not require writing to support, and your personal data is deleted within 30 days. See the privacy policy for exactly what is kept and why.
