The fastest way to understand Kaif is to go to one thing. Here is how to find it.
The map
Discovery opens on a map centred where you are. Gatherings appear as rounded-square pins; people on the radar appear as circles. That shape difference is the only cue distinguishing the two, so it is worth learning.
Pan the map and it re-queries for the area you moved to. Zoom out far enough and nearby pins group into clusters with a count — tap one to zoom into it.
Filtering
- By category — coffee, sport, music, food, outdoors and the rest. The row across the top.
- By time — happening now, tonight, this weekend, or a specific date.
- By type — free or paid, open to join or approval required.
If the map says there is nothing nearby, widen the time filter before you widen the distance. Most cities are quiet on a Tuesday afternoon and busy on Friday.
Joining
Tap a gathering to see the full description, the host, who else is coming, and where exactly it is. Then either:
- Join — you are in immediately, and in the group chat.
- Request to join — the host reviews it. You will get a notification either way, usually quickly.
- Join the waitlist — if it is full. If someone drops out, the first person on the list is offered the place automatically and has a limited window to take it.
After you join
Every gathering has its own group chat from the moment it exists. Say hello — it makes arriving much easier. You will get a reminder before it starts, and the exact location becomes visible if the host had restricted it.
If you cannot make it, leave the gathering rather than just not turning up. It frees your place for whoever is on the waitlist, and it is visible to the host either way.
